A seventh-generation grower, Luc Tardy has been at the helm of Domaine du Murinais for over 20 years, he was the first in his family to bottle and sell directly to consumers after previous generations sold their grapes to the négoce.
His cave and house are located in the commune of Beaumont-Monteux, where he has vines on alluvial soils with galets roulés, the other vineyards are located in the south-east of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation on limestone and clay. Living in a rambling old house that the family has owned since 1774, there is plenty of space for winemaking and a century-old underground cellar.
The work in the vineyard is carried out to respect nature, with regular ploughing and hoeing of the soil. Luc harvests by hand with selective sorting in the vineyard and cellar, grapes are destemmed and each terroir is vinified separately. Ageing occurs in 600ltr demi-muids (2-4yo) with no racking, and for an extended 18 months when it comes to wines made from the oldest vines (45yo).

Luc Tardy took over the reins at this domaine in 1998 and is fashioning better wines every year. His Crozes is very supple and pure with lip-smacking liquorice, ripe black cherries and a touch of spice on the palate, and the oak élevage marries really well with the weight of the wine.
