HAMISH ANDERSON ONGROSBOIS CHINON GABARE – Telegraph Magazine April 30th 2016
Hamish Anderson’s tasting notes on Loire cabernet franc
Cabernet franc is an important, but often overlooked, component of some of the greatest wines from Bordeaux. Inthe Loire it gets to show what it can do on its own. It is a grape I naturallywarm to as the sun comes out – the inexpensive versions are juicy, lightweight, moderate in alcohol and love an hour in the fridge. Move up a price bracket andyou have fine-value bottles than will gain nuance with a few years in the cellar.
2014 Chinon ‘Gabare’, DomaineGrosbois £16.95, vinetrail.co.uk
The lightest of Grosbois’s exemplary range. This one is seductive with perfumed red fruit.
